Presenting the Utility Defenders

The Utility Defenders protect our neighborhoods, friends and families by protecting underground utilities and encouraging everyone to dig safely.

Utilities are services that provide lights, heat, drinking water, internet and safe wastewater drainage. These utilities are often buried in the ground; they can be damaged if exposed when someone digs without first calling their local notification center to have the area professionally located. That’s why the Utility Defenders say, “Wait! Locate! Before you dig.”

Meet the Utility Defenders

The Utility Defenders are five kid superheroes dedicated to underground utility safety. They go wherever utilities are at risk or safety is threatened.

Meet Vapora

Defends:
Buried gas and oil pipelines

Super Activator:
When pipelines are in danger

Safety Sense:
Her “safety sense” reveals where pipelines are buried

Superpower:
She can control fire

Mia Gold

Hi there! I’m Mia, and I love a good party. The balloons, the decorations, the music—and especially the food. (My friends love it when my dad fires up his gas grill.) I’m also an amateur paleontologist and enjoy learning all about dinosaurs and fossils!

Meet Bio-Boy

Defends:
Buried sewer and drain lines

Super Activator:
When drain and sewer pipes are in danger

Safety Sense:
His “safety sense” reveals where drain and sewer pipes are buried

Superpower:
He can shrink himself down to the size of an atom
